WASHINGTON, DC - Republican members of Congress are increasingly turning to "thoughts and prayers" in place of legislation as the majority fails to challenge their party leader's government shutdown.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) sent Republican lawmakers an email Friday night urging church attendance this weekend. Wrote McConnell, "Normally we save thoughts and prayers as substitutes for gun legislation. Now we need extra thoughts, extra prayers to substitute for actual work in other areas: air traffic control, airport screenings, border security, food safety inspections, national park security and more."
